Chiropractic Transformation: Anorexia/ Bulimia Recovery

Updated: Feb 26, 2020

  1. I believe that God has designed me to serve as a vessel for his healing and guidance to flow through. Prior to chiropractic, during my undergraduate college years, I was a competitive distance runner. At that same time, I had lost myself in the darkness of anorexia and bulimia. A sickness that started in middle school, became dormant in high school and struck again in college. A combination of mental and emotional stress manifested physically as Hashimotos, shingles, and various other infections during my 4th year of running. My body felt broken, I was desperate and hopeless. Then I discovered the philosophy of chiropractic and the powerful potential that is stored within us from a chiropractor in Cape Girardeau who nurtured my curiosity and encouraged me to pursue chiropractic. When I graduated from SEMO, I enrolled at Logan University College of Chiropractic. During my first year there, I had a feeling that there was something MORE to chiropractic than what we were being taught. That something was Bio-Geometric Integration BGI found me through a youtube video of Dr. Katina Manning. I was immediately struck by the way she viewed the body and wanted to adopt her way of thinking. 120 hours of BGI seminars later and 6 months of training with Dr. Katina, my view of life shifted and I felt like a chiropractor. What we do is unique in that we see the body as geometric volumes. Most people don’t realize how our body protects us from pain. For example, If we experience a tragic event our body will adjust in a way that limits or alleviates that emotional pain. If we injure our leg, our feet, hips, torso, neck, and head will adjust to avoid physical pain. The problem is that our body stays there even after the stress or pain is gone if not properly integrated. This process is more than just physical or mental. It is emotional and even spiritual. My GOAL is to help align people with who they truly are. To recognize that they are designed to be healthy, whole, peaceful, and have a great purpose. I have a special passion for school-aged kids and truly believe that if I would have received this type of care before the struggle with anorexia started, I would have been more resilient and able to handle physical, mental, and emotional stressors NOT resorting to self-harm. Growing up in Fenton, I always dreamed of traveling the world pursuing missions or at least getting away from St. Louis, but when I met my husband at a chiropractic seminar and experienced a tragic loss in my family, I felt God drawing/ pushing me back home. I still plan to travel and do mission work, but I absolutely love my community in High Ridge and I can’t wait to help more people experience a chiropractic transformation. Chiropractic has ABSOLUTELY transformed my life mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Now it’s my turn to help you realize who God has designed you to be. In loving service, Dr. Rebekah
